Today, I thought I’d finally cover my favorite tool on the net, Delicious. Delicious is the tool I use to find some of the best sites on the internet. I typically search by “tag” or keyword and look for the most bookmarked sites under that tag. I also use a handy Firefox Plugin to better organize my favorite sites.
What is Delicious?
Social Bookmarking site, which allows you to tag, save, manage & share web pages from the Delicious site.
What can you do with Delicious?
You can bookmark any site on the net & get to it from any computer by logging into Delicious.
If you have friends in your Delicious network, you can send them interesting bookmarks & they can do the same. You can also add any Delicious users to your network and you have the ability to explore any users bookmarks.
Discover the most useful and interesting bookmarks on the web
You can see what’s hot with Delicious users by checking out the most popular tags. By looking at popular bookmarks for a tag, you’ll be able to find some of the most interesting bookmarks on any topic.
Just by looking at the Delicious home page, which displays the most popular tags, I just found two more great articles, 15 Ways to Watch TV Online Free and The Poetry of Sarah Palin.
When you bookmark a page with Delicious, you have the option of naming the bookmark, writing notes, and adding any tags you see fit. Once you save it, if you chose to share it, it will now show up in Delicious. You may choose to keep it private, so only you can see it. Once you bookmark a site, it counts the bookmark total and displays it by ##. If other users bookmark the same site, you’ll see the bookmark total for that particular site continue to increase.
With the ability to send particular sites to people in your network, Delicious can be another method of giving your site some popularity. It is loosely comparable to Digg.
