I’m baaack…
Brian has graciously allowed me back to write a thing or two. Who am I? I’m Marcy, the author of the blogs Cooking Rut and Tales of the Kids.
In addition to blogging, I’m a world-class juggler. No, no, not an actual juggler (although, that would be quite fun but I lack the coordination). Rather, I juggle a hectic life. I bet you’re a juggler, too, by the frenzied look on your face. Yeah, I can see you. Bet you didn’t realize that when you stopped by today. It’s the power of guest blogging.
Ok…ok…I can’t see you but I do know that a lot of us are incredibly busy. For me, my life looks something like this:
I go to school full time. (This is mainly because I’m nuts and thought getting a 2nd bachelors degree would be awesome. To top it off I’m probably going for a masters degree, too. Utter insanity.) I work part time from home. I raise two kids practically on my own most of the time because my husband lives 4 hours away from us due to work (stinking economy!). I write 2 main blogs and have a couple more that I consider hobbies. I also write cooking articles online at Examiner.com.
Whew!
When do I find time to do the important things in life like cleaning out belly button lint and watching Dexter? Incidentally, you can clean out your belly button while watching Dexter. It’s called multi-tasking.
Actually, I have a team of fairies that help me out around the house. They restock the refrigerator, give the kids baths, and vacuum. These fairies are awesome and quite helpful. I recommend you find some, too.
Ok…ok… so I don’t have fairies to do my grocery shopping, but I wish I had Super Nanny around. She’d be very helpful with my 4-year-old boy who mysteriously loses the use of his limbs when I ask him to pick up his toys.
In reality, I’m quite disciplined when it comes to my schedule.
- I make sure I shower at least once a week. (what?)
- Get ample amount of sleep. Ideally I like a good 12 hours but I usually settle for 7 or 8.
- I write down a list of possible blog posts. Depending on my schedule, sometimes I’ll write the posts a week or so in advance. Due to my hectic schedule, instead of posting every day, I now post at least 3 times per week. If you’re a blogger and find yourself short on time, tell your readers that a change in routine is coming. Unless their hearts are made of stone, they’ll understand.
- Cooking is a major part of my life, so I always make time for that. I have to or else I won’t have anything to write about (or eat).
- I make sure to leave time to study and watch my favorite TV shows like Dexter and Lost.
Honestly, I don’t know what my life would be like if I didn’t have so much to do. Oh wait, here’s a glimpse:
Taking lots of naps. Watching the Real Housewives of Orange County and Oprah. Reading People magazine. Actually folding the laundry when it’s done. Eating bon-bons.
So, I’ve procrastinated long enough. Final exams are next week and I need to catch up on reading biology.
And I have cookies to bake, clothes to fold, and dishes to wash… where are those fairies?
Big, enormous THANKS to Brian for letting me back in. I promise not to break anything this time.
