Today’s post is an exploration of the most downloaded Android Apps of all-time. I can personally recommend all the apps that made the top 5 as I happen to use each one.
All apps mentioned below are found in the Android Market and the top 5 was identified using one of my favorite Android App tools, aTrackdog.
5. Backgrounds FREE (Entertainment) 4.5 Stars, 62k ratings
Make your Android background a little more exciting with Backgrounds. Backgrounds provides instant access to over 10k user uploaded unique designs. You can choose to assign the wallpaper you choose to your device wallpaper or your contacts. This app also provides the ability to set wallpaper as your favorite or to save it on your SD card.
4. ASTRO File Manager FREE (Productivity) 4.5 Stars, 45k ratings
With ASTRO, you can gain better control over your Android file system by managing your files, applications and tasks. This app reads zip and tgz files, lets you send attachments, while providing an application backup and restore function. Included in this app is a handy task killer.
3. Ringdroid FREE (Multimedia) 4.5 Stars, 58k ratings
Never purchase a ringtone again. Ringdroid is a very useful tool to create ringtones by editing music tracks in your library or recording one directly from your phone. Everything is done from your phone, eliminating the need to connect the phone to your computer, text the file to your phone, etc.
2. Barcode Scanner FREE (Shopping) 4.5 Stars, 61k ratings
While shopping, wouldn’t it be nice to have the ability to price compare and find reviews from those who’ve previously purchased the product you’re getting ready to drop some dime on? Barcode scanner lets you scan product barcodes using your camera, then look up prices and reviews. You’ll also be able to scan QR Codes with URLs, contact info, calendar events and more.
1. Shazam FREE (Multimedia) 5 Stars, 69k ratings
What’s that song playing on the radio? Shazam answers this question and then some. By holding Shazam up to the speaker, Shazam identifies the song and artist, while tagging it so you don’t forget. You can even buy the tracks, learn more about the artists or even visit their MySpace page.
