The BlackBerry App World recently got a much needed update with 2.0, helping the app portal inch just a little closer to competitors iPhone and Android. While the App World 2.0 is still way behind the two big dogs in depth of available apps, I think BlackBerry users will be pleased with the enhancements featured in this update. The improvements I see is in flexibility, functionality and usability. Below is a quick glance at the improvements you’ll find in the update.
Credit Card and Wireless Billing Options
Buying apps just became more flexible. In addition to PayPal, users can now use a credit card of their choice or to make it even easier, you can charge it to your wireless bill.
Top 25 Lists
This is right up my alley. You can view the top 25 lists for themes, newest apps, updated apps and more.
Barcode Scanning
Gone are the days you need to search the app store endlessly to find a specific app. By simply scanning an apps barcode, it takes you directly to the download location for the app. Just scan the barcode anywhere it’s available, whether online on paper, etc.
Cheaper Apps
Previously, there was a restriction on apps, which didn’t allow developers to sell their apps as low as many would like. That restriction is gone and apps are as cheap as $0.99.
Categorized View of Apps
The BlackBerry App World 2.0 now streamlines the view of your app, by seperating the views in categories that include installed, archived, deleted or pending.
