With the growing popularity of the Android smartphones, developers are having a field day adding an impressive lineup of Android Apps to the Android Market each and every day. I’ve decided to dedicate the long weekend to Android Apps, due to some of the recent Apps that’s caught my eye. Here are 5 new Android Apps You’re Going to LOVE!
Angry Birds Lite Beta
3.68 Stars, 5213 ratings, <50 downloads
(FREE, Full Version $0.99) This is a beta test version of one of the best mobile games you’ll find. Angry Birds is currently my favorite game on the iPad and no developers have matched all the added levels and enhancements we get with each Angry Birds update. I expect we’ll see the same great stuff coming on the Android.
The story goes like this…The greedy pigs have stolen your eggs. When I say “you’re” I mean you as the representative of the talented Birds who are now looking for revenge. Using your skill, logic and finger sling-shotting ability, you’ll launch your army of birds at the pigs and their structures. Each bird has a specialty, such as the splitter and the bomber.
Fruit Pirate Lite (3D)
4.29 Stars, 89 ratings, 1k to 5k downloads
(FREE, Full Version $1.99) Another favorite from the iPhone has made its’ way to the Android Market. As fruit is tossed in the air, you use a series of finger swipes to slice up the fruit and score points. As you progress, you’ll get power-ups like the Super Blade. The free version only allows express mode, which consists of 25 throws, but it’s strangely addictive.
Liberate Your iTunes
4.15 Stars, 34 ratings, 5k to 10k downloads
(FREE) Liberate Your Itunes from Jam11 is kinda like SlingBox for your iTunes music. Without ever connecting your Android Phone to your PC, you can easily sync your iTunes playlists and play all your music on the go. In addition to streaming your iTunes music, you have access to over 40,000 SHOUTcast radio stations. I have over 1500 songs I can now stream. It crashed the first two times I used it, but after I restarted my Droid, it’s worked like a charm.
Download the app, register for your free account, then head over to the Download Site from your PC to grab the free connect software you’ll need. Login to your app and connect software, then click “start jamming.” Jam11 does the rest of the work for you.
TuneIn Radio
4.63 Stars, 43 ratings, 1k to 5k downloads
(FREE) You’re going to love this app! TuneIn Radio gives you the ability to stream over 40,000 channels from your Android. You can sort by local radio, music, talk, sports, by location, by language or even podcasts. I used the local radio, chose my state and city and received a list of about 40 stations or so. After about 20 seconds, the station began to stream with surprisingly good quality. Within the station itself, you have additional options such as You may like, Set alarm timer and See Show Schedule. Hopefully in the future, we’ll see more talk shows added.
Droidsound
4.75 Stars, 56 ratings, 1k to 5k downloads
(FREE) Continuing with the string of cool music apps, Droidsound gives you the flexibility to play your music that’s in retro formats like C64, Amiga and Nintendo. This app doesn’t just play music in retro formats, but the user interface is a bit retro looking as well. I’d like to see some enhancements in future releases, such as better search.
