I’ve helped fund a few successful Kickstarter projects recently. I’ve been 100% pleased with the projects I’ve received so far. A few I haven’t yet received have pushed their ship date back, but have done a good job properly communicating the slip in schedule.
Some projects have caught both my eye and my imagination. Creators with fantastic designs, great pitches and ideas I wish I thought of have made me extremely optimistic with the projects. In addition to making a half dozen pledges in the last month, I’ve dedicated posts to highlight some projects and even included widgets of my favorites on the site sidebar.
Today, I stumbled upon an extremely interesting piece by Matt Haughey, who has invested in a total of 72 KickStarter projects. According to Matt, the successfully funded i+Case, which had over 1000 backers and pulled in $85,371 in funding, is “the worst KickStarter project he has ever funded.”
I wanted to share this interesting article that both Kickstarter Project Creators and potential backers of future projects could learn from. It’s also a good read and lesson learned from a business standpoint.
